Derived from two Hindi words that translate to "100 colors," the sarangi is widely held by classical musicians to be the closest instrument to the human voice. Evocative and eloquent, our sarangi is carved from a single block of pure Tun wood and constructed with the finest materials; this type is popularly called a Tota Sarangi. The three main strings are played with the accompanying bow and are supported by numerous sympathetic strings, giving the tota sarangi its unparalleled depth, its 100 colors. Very few have successfully mastered the art of playing one of the most difficult instruments. Learning to master the sarangi is a rewarding experience and a testament to one's dedication to music. Introduce yourself to one of the rarest and highly acclaimed North Indian folk instruments, you will not be disappointed.
