A modified version of a regular household cooking tongs, the Chimta is a traditional percussion instrument also used as a prop for bhangra performances. Made of pure metal, chimtas require significant strength to maneuver. Structurally it consists of a large metal prong folded in half and adorned with sets of cymbals. The extensions meet at a large metal ring that can either be used to carry the chimta or to strike against the prongs to create a metallic rhythmic sound.
